The International and Corporate Relations (ICR) Office serves to promote the University of Malaya (UM) both locally and internationally. ICR deals with government agencies, corporations and other universities. ICR produces the UM annual report and other publications as well as handles special projects involving university-level functions.

History
 
The International and Corporate Relations Office (ICR) is the result of the merger of several units: The International Relations Unit (IRU) was established on 1st October 1996 with the mission “To internationalize the University of Malaya to be in the forefront as a centre of academic excellence. On 1st December 2006, IRU was combined with the pre-existing Corporate Communication Office (CCO) to form ICR. With this merger ICR is responsible to for University of Malaya’s International Relations, Corporate Relations, Special Projects, and the International Student Centre. 
 

Objectives
 
1.      To internationalize University of Malaya (UM) as an academic center of excellence through promoting, coordinating and assisting international activities for and within the University.
2.      To increase international and multicultural understanding for the University.
3.      To serve as University of Malaya’s primary advocate, liaison and resource center for international students and scholars.
